At the ENACR, education and training in circus arts take place under an atypical, quirky Big Top. A village space of 2340 square meters serves to initiate and to train children and adults, future artists and professionals of circus arts.
As imagined and conceived by the architects, Patrick Bouchain and Loïc Julienne, the ENACR's BIG Top, a big, kite like tent on seven masts, evokes the body of a dragon.
The oval shaped ENACR's Big Top contains:
- A main floor of 16 by 14 meters with surrounding training spaces
- A semi-circular arena, equipped with telescoping tiers to accommodate, depending on the need, from 210 to 630 spectators.
- A rectangular training space, equipped with a trampoline and a landing-pit.
- Another floor of 13 meters in diameter with a dancing platform.
- A space for the actors to prepare themselves.
- Two class rooms
- A music room
- An infirmary
- A rest room
- A cultural space
The locality was designed to serve the teaching of circus arts. It allows for the entire panoply of circus techniques to be practised (with the exception of magic acts and work with animals). It offers all the functionalities of a real performance space.
