The Ecole Nationale des Arts du Cirque is eager to have a positive impact on its neighbourhood. It opens its doors to the schools of the town of Rosny-sous-Bois and gets involved in projects with some of them.

Thus the smallest children, as well as teenagers, can discover the contemporary circus, can come to visit the training and the shows, and thereby become qualified spectators.

In addition to the educational and cultural aims, these activities foster the link with the courses for amateurs of circus arts provided by the ENACR and accessible to the local inhabitants.

ACTIVITIES DURING THE 2014 / 2015 SAISON:

Elementary schools:

In their effort to encourage the discovery of contemporary circus arts, the elementary schools of the town profit from a partnership with the Direction of Cultural Affairs (Direction des Affaires culturelles). The classes can visit the Big Top, attend to the training sessions, and finally enjoy a performance of the circus students in their school environment.

The discovery includes two specific complementary courses:
-    The so-called “initiation”: 6 hours workshop of practice in circus arts under the Big Top.
-    The so called “immersion”: 12 hours workshop under the Big Top, of which one session in presence of the parents, and also an outing of the family, to see a show programmed by the Espace George Simenon. The hours with participation of the family fall outside school hours.

Middle school (Collège):

In the course of the 2014/2015 seasons the ENACR receives the artists of Cheptel Aleikoum sojourning for work on their new creation.
The ENACR and the collège Langevin-Wallon take advantage of the presence of the company to get together and to propose, for the 6th class, a course “Culture and arts in the Middle school”. The Conseil Général of Seine-Saint-Denis patronizes the program.
Marie Jolet, who initiated this project, is a former student of the ENACR. She and her team animate workshops related to scripting of the show with special emphasis on flying rope and the composition of songs.
The pupils shall attend the company's rehearsal under the Big Top.
In a workshop on aerial disciplines, parents are present for one session taking place outside school hours.
The school children come to watch the shows of the ENACR's students and attend to two other performances as well, one under the Big Top of La Villette and another in Espace Georges Simenon at Rosny-sous-Bois.

High schools (Lycées):

There are two high schools in the town of Rosny-sous-Bois: the lycée Jean Moulin with a technical branch and the lycée Charles de Gaulle, a standard high school.

  • At Jean Moulin high school, the students who prepare a diploma in cooking (CAP) will build relationships with the students of the ENACR.They are going to practice some circus disciplines and they shall exchange with the students of ENACR on common subjects, such as concentration at work, repetition of gestures, experimenting, and endurance...Furthermore, the high school students will meet the physician of the ENACR who will talk to them about nutrition for sportspersons, in particular concerning the young students, whose body and needs are in constant development,  This course shall end and culminate in an “ideal” meal, prepared by the students of Jean Moulin high school and specially destined to the students of the ENACR.

  • At Charles de Gaulle high school, the project will be an integral part of the physical education and sports program. There shall be hours of practice in the Big Top and at Charles de Gaulle high school, and the project will then open up to artistic and cultural aspects in a partnership with the Ferme du Buisson. Mutual exchange will take place on subjects such as literature and music. The students of the ENACR will stage a performance for the high school youngsters at the occasion of “Mardis Art”, a regular meeting, created by Ferme du Buisson within the optional dancing program of the high school: one Tuesday per month, artists come to present a little show to the students.
